Bless the Village
Helping the Embera tribal people in Panama as they build a new village.
This new village of tribal people in Panama
needs our help - and I believe they need the
Lord's Blessing as well. The village is called
"Embera Quera" (EmberRA Care-RA) which
means "Embera Perfume" in their native
language. I am praying that the sweet aroma
of God's love will permeate the village also!
I am convinced that one of our main functions
on earth is to HELP OTHERS. Do you believe
this? This is an important opportunity to help
this village and the Embera people!
For those of you who just want the basic details:
Rob met the Embera in 2004 while working on the movie set for End of the Spear. I visited again a
year later, and and again in April '07. I went down to Panama last September with some donated
money and paid for 80 life jackets and a 3750 watt generator for the village, a root canal for Marco,
and another 2-month course for Marco's English language school. I also went down in MARCH '08 to
help with paperwork for Marco's application to be an exchange student in the USA. This time I did not
ask for donations because they did have some TOUR business, but I gave $300 for the village.
Things the Embera need: They are doing much better now after a beginning season in the Tour
Business. HOWEVER, the Tour Biz is almost non-existant in July, Aug. and Sept. It begins again in
October. THEY COULD USE OUR HELP right NOW! They are not quite starving, but they are
POOR. I sent $500 down in May because the Flaco family store was owed debts and they had no
money to buy foodstuffs. I cancelled the debts (just like in the Bible!) and they re-stocked the small
store. But TOUGHER times are ahead. Let's Bless the Village!
Prayer needs: Many of these people could use some inspiration to walk deeper in the Word and
Worship. They do not often go to a church. Marco made a comment to me that makes me think that
there is a past history of not feeling accepted by the Panamanian people at churches. They would
really like to have a church building in their village. Could we help? During the March '08 trip, they
connected with some people from YWAM (Youth With a Mission.) As of July 1, '08 the YWAM base
has plans to send regular teams in to become friends and help the village! Pray for YWAM, and the
"Bless the Village" (us!) connection, too!

This picture is from April '07, Village was 4 months old.
And here is the village in September
'07! No more blue tarps, all natural
from the surrounding jungle. Notice
the new Community Hut, where they
entertain tourists and gather for
community meetings. If you want to
see the latest pix from March '08, look
over the NEW website I am making
for the village tourism business:
These people have been working hard for over a year and a half to build this village and make connections
in Tourism for their livelihood. Now it is the "off-season" and they will struggle. LET'S HELP THEM! Honestly,
anybody can show up with Bibles and tracts in Spanish - and they have. But what REALLY gets attention is when
people also FOCUS on survival needs and 1) GIVE money toward that, or 2) VISIT in person, come into
relationship with these people. As we help in these ways we will also inspire them in their excitement about,
and commitment to, the ways of the Lord. And the "way of the Lord" was in relationship and NEEDS.
Please read through these pages about helping, no, blessing the village, and also the plan to help 17 year old
Marco Flaco study English in the USA and improve his life. Please email or call me with any comments or
questions... YOU can be an essential HEART who cares about these people! Our group will be small, but we will
do great things!
